My Plan

With your support, I hope to:

  • Continue to work with the Massachusetts Association of School Committees to monitor the full implementation of the Student Opportunity Act so our schools receive every dollar mandated by the law to reduce class sizes, hire more teachers and give them the resources to provide our kids with the best education.
  • Fight to continue the program for homeless students in housing crisis, helping young people in the most urgent situations to achieve immediate housing stability and improve educational outcomes, including decreased absenteeism; improve school grades, and higher graduation rates.
  • Address the needs of social emotional support programs for our students heavily affected by the effects of COVID-19.
  • Work with school administrators on curriculum improvement and staff diversity for an equitable and inclusive education for all.
  • Advocate for programs to prevent bulling, including cyber bulling, school violence and suicide among young people. Bullying is not only against the law but a very serious issue. As adults, it’s our duty to teach our kids to respect their friends regardless of who they are or where they come from.

Unanimously appointed in January 2018 by a vote of the City Council and School Committee to serve out the vacant term of the late Robert Carreiro, and elected by the voters in November 2019, Marcony has been an effective and dedicated champion for public education.
